Communications Manager
Gail Borden Public Library has an immediate opening for a full-time Communications Manager to work in our fast-paced Public Relations Division. Qualified candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills and have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in social media management, communications, journalism or marketing.
Candidates must be able to craft compelling written and visual content for various communication platforms, including print media (newsletter, signage, flyers), electronic newsletters, social media channels, press releases and more. In addition, this position requires maintaining content calendars, implementing and adjusting paid ads (Meta and Google) and ongoing analyzation and reporting of metrics to maximize campaigns and Library goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations or marketing.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in social media management, communications, or marketing.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Strong understanding in managing business pages on various social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Constant Contact, Instagram, Flickr, X, etc.), including paid advertising (Meta and Google), and SEO a plus.
- Must have experience in effective content creation, including writing and multimedia production.
- Must be a self-starter with a high level of motivation, commitment, and dedication to take a project from the beginning to the end.
- Ability to work collaboratively in conceptual development meetings for library-wide projects.
- Positive attitude in support of the library’s mission, vision, and values.
Full-time position (37.5 hours/week) with occasional evenings & weekends based on library events.

Customer Relations Assistant Team Leader
Looking to advance in your career? The Customer Relations Department is offering an opportunity for a part-time Assistant Team Leader. The person we are looking for must be collaborative, organized, tech-savvy, and love working with all types of people.
Under the general direction of the Director of Customer Relations, this position assists with the following:
- Supervises the daily operations and activities of the Customer Relations Department
- Interprets library policy for customers
- Assists customers in the use of library services, facilities, equipment
- Provides excellent customer service
- Serves as the Person-in-Charge when the Department Director, Assistant Manager, or Senior Team Leaders are unavailable.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of college or equivalent work experience
- 3 years of customer service experience with increasing duties & responsibilities
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment
- Ability to maintain a positive approach and attitude
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a plus
28 hours per week; schedule includes day, evening, and weekend hours.
