The community forums at ECC aim to foster dialogue around enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in the context of the institution’s identity as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). These sessions focus on examining key areas such as faculty, staff, and administration diversity, leadership and decision-making processes, curriculum inclusivity, and support programs for Latinx students. The goal is to identify barriers, evaluate current initiatives, and generate new ideas to improve campus culture and better serve the diverse student body. Feedback from these sessions will inform future strategies for creating a more inclusive and supportive academic environment.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought several unprecedented challenges, including the need to provide continuous healthcare coverage to Medicaid patients. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) responded to this challenge by automatically re-enrolling individuals with Medicaid insurance. However, with the coming end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, all Illinois Medicaid and Medicaid Managed Care patients will have to regularly re-enroll to continue to receive Medicaid health insurance coverage.
